                       Shogun History

Mark attended lessons in Shukokai Karate in the early 1980's and trained under Sensei Rob Millner of Red Dragon Karate Association in Eccles. He trained continually  2-3 times a week for 6 years and passed to Black Belt 1st Dan in 1990.  Later that year he moved to train with Sensei Tommy Kwan of Rising Sun Karate Association in Radcliffe to expand and develop his skills in Karate and also made plans to open his own club. Mark was 35 years old at that time.

Shogun Karate Club - Opened 28th April 1991

Since its opening in 1991, Shogun Karate Club has grown into the large and well disciplined organisation it is today. We are a family based club,  focused on self-defence and self discipline. Shogun is currently running three clubs in the Manchester area based at Worsley, Eccles and Salford,  teaching the traditional art of Shukokai Karate.

Chief Instructor, Mark Conlon, is present at all classes and teaches all aspects of martial arts to adults, teenagers and children aged 7 years and over.

Mark is also assisted by Mark Toplis (5th Dan) at the Eccles club, so the members can enjoy the benefit of having two Instructors looking after them during the lessons.

Also present, is Kevin Sugrue (7th Dan) who has an enormous amount of experience,  both as a National Competitor and teacher of Shukokai Karate. Kevin is now joint (Dan Grade Examiner) for Members wishing to progress to 1st Dan Black Belt and above.

There are currently over 70 members training with Shogun and new students are joining all the time.
